Welcome to my new biweekly post that includes a poem-in-progress and a prompt for con*spiring in community. These should be quick reads that nevertheless pack a punch! Enjoy.
After Aurora
Even with my eyes closed I see it— rippling curtains, spiraling rays green to purple to red to pink lit up like day against my favorite kind of moon it feels like a dream it filled my dreams The world is different this morning— song sparrows, mourning doves goldfinches and cardinals all chattering, exclaiming to their neighbors as we are: Did you see—? Can you believe—? Everywhere I look I sense it— the dew on new grass, on apple blossoms and just-hatched leaves glimmers with knowing, for we have been shown a fuller spectrum of life. it feels like a dream it filled my dreams I ride the shifting, shimmering aura and am carried, on this brave blue morning, home to the dawn
Place your feet (preferably bare) on the ground below you (also preferably bare). Take a deep inhale through your nose. Let it go out your mouth.
Think of one expectation you have for this summer—one thing that you’d really really love to experience, and have it go perfectly.
Now let it go. You can write it down and symbolically burn it, or bury it, or dissolve it in water if you like. This doesn’t mean you won’t get that thing; it just means that you’ve made room in your consciousness for something better, more expansive, beyond that which you can imagine.
With light, life, and love,
Devon
