Welcoming Spring
Pursuing utter aliveness this season | Exclusively for paid subscribers
Happy Vernal Equinox, friends! If you can, grab a drink and sit outside for this one. Awake your senses. If you ask me, there is no better metaphor for utter aliveness than the coming of spring. Note: this and other seasonal posts are exclusively for paid subscribers, so take this chance to upgrade now or use the bonus freebie available to all subscribers. Thanks everyone, and a reminder: step outside.
Magnolia
The following is a preview of a rough-draft chapter from my memoir-in-progress. Your feedback is welcome!
I have a tree. She is mine, or perhaps we are soul sisters. We watched each other grow up. For 18 years (plus a few more), she lived outside my bedroom window. She is still there, standing steadfast, though now I live over a thousand miles away and rarely make it back. My tree is a magnolia, and throughout my childhood, she bloomed the week of my birthday, May 5th. Nature’s beautiful, tangible celebration of my existence, and of all new life.
