I was listening to Beth Kempton’s Calm Christmas podcast, and she referenced an author who called the winter solstice the “hinge of the year.” I love this image. Doors are closing, doors are opening, we are coming around the bend. Maybe it feels like an abrupt slam. Maybe it’s slow and painfully squeaky. The light has changed. There is a true sense of “another side,” of a threshold through which we’re passing, whether we like it or not.

On this hinge of the year, I bring you a little collection of things that might help you on your journey through the dark: everything from poetry to prompts, songs you should listen to, and songs that should be banished from the radio.

As with any smörgåsbord, take what you like, and ignore the rest!
